Perry Laudenslager Memorial Scholarship
In December, MRA & GTA proudly awarded scholarships to two University of Maryland students in memory of GTA Laurel team member, Perry Laudenslager. Since Perry’s untimely death in early 2005, the partners of MRA and GTA have worked with Perry’s family and friends to establish an endowment that will provide scholarships for future civil engineers from Perry’s alma mater. Through donations and fundraising efforts, the endowment will be fully funded over the next few years. However, GTA & MRA stepped up to recognize qualified students by providing financial support for this memorial scholarship while the endowment is being funded.
In 2007, scholarships were awarded to Ianina “Yana” Jmourko and Swapna Sharma. Ms. Jmourko, a junior, currently serves as the Secretary of the student chapter of the ASCE on campus. Ms. Sharma, a senior, serves as the President of the Chi Epsilon Honor Society and is the Vice President of Membership for the student chapter of the ASCE.
MRA and GTA are proud to be associated with continuing Perry’s memory through this scholarship.
