  • 3,000-SF expansion and renovation for the Space Telescope Science Institute
  • Added fourth floor office space on top of a third floor section of existing building
  • Designing & detailing new, cost-effective structural steel framed floor and composite concrete deck
  • Several existing steel beams required reinforcing due to the added loads and required steel cover plates to be added
  • Construction was performed while the existing building was in operation

JHU, Mueller Building Fourth Floor, Expansion/Renovation, Baltimore, MD

  • Three-story addition
  • MRA used composite steel and masonry piers to support the third-story conference room, new elevator, and expansion to the campus café

Goddard School, White Marsh, MD

  • Addition of 10,000 SF of classrooms, science labs, computer rooms, and lounge space on the roof of the existing building
  • The school was able to seamlessly add their middle school curriculum into the existing facility

Middle School Addition to Trinity Lutheran Church School, Joppa, MD 

  • Structural engineering design included two wood framed additions totaling 2,300 SF
  • 13’ x 56’ clerestory skylight for the library
  • Structural inspections of existing glulam beams and columns
  • Design for a 4,800-SF temporary classroom platform

  • New 17,500-SF library, with expansion capabilities to 22,000 SF
  • Library features include a drive-up window, clock tower to denote its prominence within the community, outdoor covered porches, greenhouse-like conservatory, central sunlit atrium, and distinct community meeting rooms, children’s and teen areas

Claymont Library, New Castle, DE

  • New 15,000-SF public library intended to be a prototype for the Frederick County Library system
  • LEED Silver building was designed with a square footprint, allowing it to fit a variety of sites
  • A simple yet non-traditional orientation of the pitched roof defines the interior volumes and creates a dynamic exterior shape that presents a variety of forms, from different vantage points
  • Extensive north-facing glass bathes the interior with an abundance of glare-free light

Brunswick Public Library, Frederick County, MD

  • 15,000-SF renovation and 12,000-SF expansion
  • Landmark glass pavilions were placed at each end to terminate its length with welcoming beacons to the public

  • UNDEX - New 18-acre, 150-foot deep water-filled basin. Structural design for bulkhead facility, which required deep foundations. Also, structural design of a new concrete platform for a 250-ton crane
  • Littoral - Design for the 400’ x 100’ wide and 20-foot-deep wave channel which generates waves up to 6-foot with 1-knot cross-current. The concrete retaining wall that serves as a bulkhead is capable of withstanding a 500 lb. TNT charge that would be detonated in the center of the adjacent test pond

Department of the Army, UNDEX and Littoral Warfare Environmental Test Facilities, APG, MD

  • New 2-level, 27,000-SF (includes a half-occupied basement) City Hall that houses administrative offices, Municipal Court and Police Department
  • Superstructure is precast concrete planks supported on a combination of steel beams/columns and light-gauge bearing walls. Masonry shear walls around the stairwells and elevator shafts provide lateral resistance to wind and seismic forces
  • Basement has a concrete slab on grade and masonry foundation walls. Bearing walls and steel columns are supported on shallow foundations

Wanaque Municipal Building, Wanaque, NJ

  • Complete gut/renovation of the existing five-level, 90,000-SF MVA Administrative Headquarters and Data Center
  • The facility contains administrative offices for over 20 departments serving MVA and MDOT, plus state-of-the-art training and conference facilities, computer rooms, secured data areas, and a computer repair lab
  • The design also included floor in-fill and an elevator addition

  • Structural engineering consulting services during construction of the 2.8-MGD built-in-place station with three non-clog submersible dry pit pumps with VFD control, and 6,000 lf of 12-inch force main

  • Structural design of this 28-MGD pumping station
  • This sewage pumping station serves approximately 60% of the County’s service area

Bush Creek Sewage Pumping Station, Harford County, MD

  • Structural engineering and consulting services during construction a 500,000-gallon waterspheriod water tank to supplement existing Zone 2 storage to serve the Bulle Rock Community and golf course in the City of Havre de Grace
